synchronization of contact

First......pair the two phones together via blue-tooth (fairly simple)

second...on the dare go to contacts, select mark all and select send name card, and then select via blue-tooth. It will ask you choose a blue-tooth device and if your bb is paired it will be the only thing on the list.

third.....on the BB go to the media file and highlight any icon ( i chose pictures) click the BB button and choose "receive using blue-tooth" ( this will put your bb in blue-tooth receivable mode)

fourth.....click send on the dare
you will have to click yes to confirm each one of your contacts but it goes pretty quick.

After all of your contacts are sent go to your applications folder on your BB then open the files folder and then documents. all of your contacts will be in this folder as a .vcf file

Just click on the contact and choose add to contacts. again you have to do them one at a time but you are transferring the whole name card with multiple numbers email addresses or whatever

1 - Connect your Black Berry to the Desktop Manager
While the desktop manager is running, connect your Blackberry to the PC using the USB.  You should see an error message stating "No applications configured for synchronization" if you haven't already set anything to sync.

2 - Set up which parts of Outlook to sync
Okay clicking okay (and entering your password if one exists), click Synchronize.  Now click synchronization under the configuration tab and then select Synchronization.
If you a password exists on your device, you may be asked to input it once again.  For this example, I will choose Contacts only, but you also have the option to the calendar, memo pad and tasks.  Keep in mind you can choose to sync with Yahoo! as well.  For Google, you would need to use Google Sync.
Check off the radio for Address Book and you will be asked to from the available desktop applications.  Highlight Outlook and then select "Next"
The next screen is where you can choose 'Two Way Sync' / 'One Way Sync from the Blackberry to Outlook' / 'One Way Sync from Outlook to the Blackberry.'  I usually choose Two sync as it will merge data from both your device and Outlook (safest option).
After you choose, hit Next.  On this screen, you would select the Outlook profile you'd like to sync, majority of us only have Outlook, but some may have business contacts and personal contacts in which they don't mix.  After choosing your profile, hit Next and then click Finish after getting to the Congratulations screen.  You can choose to sync more items or click OK if you're done.
3- Synchronizing your data
I usually unplug my berry at the main screen in Desktop Manager for five (5) seconds and then plug it back up.  You will then be asked for your password if one exists.
You will now see the synchronization screen bring up a new screen if there are any changes to be made with your Address book, Calendar, Memo pad or Tasks.  You can choose to Accept or Decline the changes.
After your synchronization is done, you can check both Outlook and Blackberry for the changes.  Once you see the additions/deletions, you have successfully set your Blackberry up to Sync.

GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

1. Do a hard reset - remove battery, wait 30 seconds, and put it back in. This does not wipe or erase any date, but only forces the device to recreate the connection with the carrier and is the quickest possible solution for sending/receiving/wireless sync problems.
2. Check that the user has a GPRS/EDGE signal (in all caps)
3. Check that his Outlook mailbox size is under 200MB.
4. On user's device, check if the setting Messages > Options > Email Reconciliation > Wireless Reconcile is set to ON.
5. The service book may be corrupt, especially if the wireless sync settings in the step above are not available. Delete the service book and send a new one to the device by completing the following steps:

a. On the device, click Options > Service Book or Options > Advanced Options > Service Book.
b. Select each service book/s labeled Desktop or Blackberry. Click the track wheel and click Delete. If you get a warning, click Delete. Repeat this process for all the Desktop or Blackberry service books.
c. Connect the device to the PC and launch Desktop Manager. It should sync automatically. Wait for the sync to finish, then generate a new key (see Step 6 below). After the new key is generated, click Apply then click OK. (If the user does not have access to his computer, you can also send a ticket to G.AIEMRM for Notes users or G.AOSL for Outlook users to have them send the service books from the server.)
d. Do a hard reset and see if the problem is fixed.
6. On user's Desktop Manager, check if the setting Email Settings > Redirect incoming messages to your device is CHECKED. Under Email Settings > Security, select Generate keys manually and click on the Generate button. Move the mouse around until the progress bar is complete. This will generate a unique key based on your pointer movements. Click OK. Do a hard reset on the device and see if the problem is resolved. (Don’t forget to change the setting back to “Generate keys automatically” after you finish troubleshooting)

If these troubleshooting steps fail, escalate the issue to G.AOSL using the Service Desk template “Blackberry cannot send and/or receive”. Fill up all the information required in the ticket. If the user cannot send, be sure to indicate the Message Status error message in the Service Desk ticket.

Title: Signal Strength Indicator
Description The signal strength indicator on the BlackBerry device can be displayed as either a bar graph or a RSSI number (dB).
Symptom: Data can be effectively transferred with three bars of connectivity, unfortunately the fluctuations in the bar graph can be difficult to decipher as the user travels.

For some users it may be advantageous to have them switch to a RSSI number and have them monitor performance. If delivery is delayed and the RSSI number is above 90 then the delivery issue is a likely result of carrier signal strength.

Note during the conversion the “lower” the RSSI number the better the signal strength. -90 is the approximate cut-off for data delivery.
Signal Bar Strength Indicators RSSI Indicators
5 bars (optimal strength) -77 or higher

In the future, this approval process will be handled through the E-communications task force. When that process changes, I will communicate the change to the support teams."
